1. When the Saviour’s knocking at the door of your heart,
And asking, “Please, may I come in?”
When the Saviour’s knocking at the door of your heart,
And asking, “Please, may I come in?”
Say, “Yes, yes, yes, Christ come into my heart!
    Stay here and never depart.”
Say, “Yes, yes, yes, Christ come into my heart!
    Stay here and never depart.”

2. When the devil’s banging at the door of your heart,
And crying, “Hey! Let me come in!”
When the devil’s banging at the door of your heart,
And crying, “Hey! Let me come in!”
Say, “No, no, no, for Jesus fills the space.
No room for you in this place.”
Say, “No, no, no, for Jesus fills the space.
No room for you in this place.”

This charming children’s song reminds us of one verse from the message to the last church, Laodicea:

Revelation 3
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The song makes it clear that when Christ’s life fills our new heart, there is no room for the old. Christ does not come in if the old evil life is still there, for that would be adultery. First the old life must go, through the miracle of forgiveness (which brings not only pardon, but cleansing). Then Christ is free to join Himself to us as our new husband, and fill the new heart with His life and love.
