1. Come, thou fount of ev’ry blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace!
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise;
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above,
Praise the mount, Oh fix me on it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.
2. Come, thou everlasting Spirit!
Bring to ev’ry thankful mind
All the Saviour’s dying merit,
All his suff’rings for mankind.
True Recorder of his passion,
Now the living fire impart;
Now reveal his great salvation,
Preach his gospel to our heart.
3. Come, thou witness of his dying,
Come Remembrancer divine;
Let us feel thy pow’r applying
Christ to ev’ry soul, and mine.
Let us groan thy inward groaning,
Look on him we pierc’d, and grieve;
All receive the grace atoning,
All the sprinkled blood receive.
4. O! to grace how great a debtor,
Daily I’m constrain’d to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wand’ring heart to thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love,β
Here’s my heart, Oh take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.
