I used to dream of being famed,
But this exists no longer.
For now I dream of being helpful,
Making mortals stronger.
I want to learn! To love, to fill
My life with wise compassion.
To help each person that I can,
And thus to help my nation.
I want to dry the weeping eye,
For human needs to cater,
To clear their vision, lift their head,
And show them their Creator.
Developing the good in me,
And overcoming bad,
Each day I want my character
To be the best I’ve had.
I really want to be like Christ.
And so, by definition,
A cheerful life of usefulness–
This is my chief ambition.
