1. The just man’s path is shining light
    That brighter grows to perfect day.
Are we such beacons in the night
    Who lead poor sinners in the way?

2. When darkness grows to darkest night
    Where are the lights who will arise,
Who daily walked truth’s mountain-height,
    And counted it their greatest prize?

3. The just, the shining lights are those,
    Like Joseph, and like “little” Paul,
Who follow Christ where’er He goes,
    Submissive to His ev’ry call.

4. True leaders learn to follow first;
    As Christ does, so they do as well.
They feel their need, and grow in grace,
    And never cease of Him to tell.

5. Though sons of God, we still confess
    We barely have begun to know
How great His love, His holiness!
    How great our need, in Him, to grow.
