Helping Hands

The good Lord loves us, this is clear.
    He sends us light, but do we hear?
Do we grasp the message He has given
    Us in love from highest heav’n?

Oh, will we see? The light is clear;
    Or trust our way and hold it dear?
Will we work to answer our own pray’r,
    Or wait so long with little care?

Do we see God’s laws of love
    Helping as hands from above?
Or as chains with which to bind
    Our heart and mind?

An open heart, a contrite soul
    That’s teachable can be made whole.
So let us open up ourselves
    And grasp the helping hand!

Then quickly will God’s church become
    A holy, royal band,
